MENA Newswire News Desk: FIFA President Gianni Infantino hailed a transformative moment for club football during the draw for the inaugural 32-team FIFA Club World Cup™, which will take place in the United States from 15 June to 13 July 2025. The competition, billed as a milestone for global club football, aims to bring together the world’s elite teams in a format reminiscent of the FIFA World Cup™.

Speaking at a high-profile event in Miami, Infantino emphasized that the new tournament fills a longstanding gap in football’s global framework. “Today is a historic day because we mark the draw of the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup,” Infantino stated. He highlighted the need for a global platform to crown the world’s best club, akin to the men’s FIFA World Cup and women’s FIFA World Cup, launched in 1930 and 1991, respectively.

The FIFA President announced a worldwide tour of the tournament’s iconic trophy, which will commence in New York on 16 January 2025. This tour will include visits to all 32 participating clubs, offering fans across the globe a chance to witness the trophy in person. “This trophy will come and see you all, all over the world,” Infantino said, underscoring the inclusive spirit of the competition.

The inaugural event represents a significant evolution in club football, featuring elite teams and players from all continents. “It’s about inclusivity, bringing the 32 best clubs and players from all over the world together in the United States to determine the best,” Infantino remarked. The final match will take place on 13 July 2025 at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey, marking the culmination of the month-long competition.

Infantino described the trophy as “unique” and “iconic,” symbolizing a new chapter in football history. The trophy’s global journey is expected to generate excitement and anticipation for the tournament while celebrating the sport’s unifying power. This landmark initiative follows FIFA’s broader efforts to expand football’s reach and engagement worldwide.

By hosting the tournament in the U.S. and involving clubs from diverse footballing cultures, FIFA seeks to further establish football as a truly global sport. The tournament promises to be a showcase of talent and competition at the highest level, with the eventual winner claiming the prestigious title of the world’s best club. As anticipation builds, the trophy tour offers a tangible connection for fans as the countdown to June 2025 begins.
